Classroom Happenings:
This past week in Reader's Workshop, students focused on strategies like using the whole page to gain information about a topic and being sure to not "fly by" text features, stop and see what information they can give you!

Students have been excited about our non-fiction writing unit in which they've chosen a topic to teach to their audience.  This past week, students focused on finishing up their pieces as they added Fun Facts and Glossary pages.  More information about a Publishing Party on December 18 coming soon.  The purpose of the Publishing Celebration is for students to share their work throughout the unit with you!  (The Publishing Party will be the afternoon of Tuesday, December 18.  Mark your calendars and look for more information to come!)

Math Newsletter Topic D went home with students, please let me know if you did not get one!

Reminders:
Monday, December 10 is Pajama Day!

Information about Rainbow Day was sent home last week.  Please take a look at the information and the color your student has been assigned.  (Also, please make sure the form you received has your student's name on it and you don't accidentally have someone else's!  Thank you!).  Thursday, December 13 is Rainbow Day!  Wear your color and come ready for some fun field day type team building activities!  Remember that Rainbow Day is an early 12:30 dismissal.

If you're looking for the 2AN Schedule, it's now posted on the Blog!  Be sure to also check the actual blog website from time to time (taism4an.blogspot.com) as the Upcoming Dates Section at the top of the blog might come in handy to fill calendars out with dates a bit ahead of time!

Birthday treats!  Let me know if you'd like to bring in birthday treats for the class!  We have 17 students in the class that are always welcoming of treats.  :)  We will typically have birthday treats at 10:15am with our snack time.  So, if you can drop them off in the morning before snack, we will enjoy them with snack.  If not, let me know so I can plan for another arrangement.  (Note:  We do not have a peanut/treenut allergy in our classroom, but we do have a few students that are to avoid nuts and beans.)
