End-of-Module 4 Assessment

Our End-of-Module 4 Math Assessment is now uploaded to your student's ePortfolio for your viewing!

Week of April 29

Sunday Schedule:  Week 2, Day 6

Upcoming Events and Special Notes:
Research, research, research!  This last week in Reader's Workshop, students did a lot of work using text structure to take meaningful notes for research on a topic they chose.  Students then took those reading skills and applied them to our Social Studies study of Oman.  Students were looking at articles about Oman, and talking about text structure with partners and using text structure organizers to take meaningful notes together.  We will continue to refine our research skills and utilize them as we study Oman and publish research projects!  Just a note:  You should have seen information for our next Informational Writing Unit come home.  The resources are also attached below.

In Math, you should have seen our Module 5 Eureka Math Tips for Parents come home this week (also attached below).  We've started our study of Fractions/Decimals!

Week of April 22

Sunday Schedule:  Week 2, Day 1

Upcoming Events and Special Notes:
Next week, Sunday, April 22 students will be taking the End-of-Module 4 Math Assessment.  If you would like some extra practice before the assessment, we practiced logging into Zearn today in class.  (Login usernames are FirstnameLastname, password 4an.)  Students can work through the lessons on their individual account to review lessons and concepts from Module 4 for the test.

We enjoyed having you in for our publishing opportunity with our Informational Expert Topics on Tuesday!  Our next unit of writing will continue our work with informational writing as we take on a research project for our second informational writing piece!  Look for more information coming home about this unit next week!

Week of April 15

Monday Schedule:  Week 1, Day 3

Upcoming Events and Special Notes:
This week in Writing Workshop, students were working towards wrapping up and publishing their Informational Writing Expert Topics.  Students will showcase their publishing with all grade four classes on Tuesday, April 17 (If students did not get done typing in class this week, I asked them to bring their writing home over the weekend to finish typing; they don't need to have it completely revised, edited, and ready for publishing by Monday, but they should have everything typed by Monday.).  This week in Reader's Workshop, students started to extend their nonfiction reading skills to looking at how we can use what we know about reading non-fiction well to plan for research.  In math, we continued our Geometry Module, adding words like adjacent, supplementary, and complimentary angles to our math vocabulary!
