Week of May 13

Sunday Schedule:  Week 2, Day 4

Upcoming Events and Special Notes:
First off, thank you, parents for stopping in to check out our Final Dam Projects this week.  We enjoyed wrapping up our learning for this unit with such an engaging (and fun!) culminating activity!  We hope you enjoyed seeing us at work, modeling, problem solving, collaborating, constructing, and reflecting on our final dam projects!

Looking ahead at next week, we have some exciting stuff on the burner..

Students will be doing partner presentations for Social Studies on specific topics about Oman using Google Slides.  This Social Studies project not only helps us grow in our knowledge about the beautiful country we live in, it also allows us to work with technology in the form of Google Slides and practice our speaking/listening skills!

Book Clubs are starting!

And, just as exciting, but not so "new"..

Our writing work will continue with our Research Writing Unit.  And, we're continuing our study of Fractions/Decimals in Math!

Reminders:
MAP testing starts next week (Grade Four Testing Schedule on the Upcoming Dates Section of taism4an.blogspot.com).

With Ramadan starting next week, please let me know if you have a student that is fasting so that I can be aware and mindful.

Reminder

In science, we've wrapped up our stream table experiments and have made it to the Final Dam Project.  For this project, students have been collaborating with their groups to build a dam using their stream table materials and the materials allotted for the project.

Students were excited to work on their initial plans this past week and were even more excited to use what they learned from their first attempt at building to make changes to their initial plans before having a second attempt at building!

We'd like to invite parents in for the afternoon of Tuesday, May 8 from 2:00-3:00 to view the second, or final, building of the dams and to see these scientists at work!  Please keep the afternoon open if interested in coming in! During this time, you will observe your scientist collaborating with group members to build their final dam and seeing them put it to the test!
