Classroom Happenings:
This past week in Reader's Workshop, students did a lot of great work studying text features of non-fiction texts.  We noticed how things like the table of contents, keywords, the glossary, photo captions (and many more!) help us understand our topics better!

Students have been excited about our non-fiction writing unit in which they've chosen a topic to teach to their audience.  This past week, one of the things we focused on was how to elaborate on our chapters by adding details, examples, and suggestions.

Math Newsletter Topic D went home with students, please let me know if you did not get one!

Reminders:
Information about Rainbow Day was sent home today.  Please take a look at the information and the color your student has been assigned.  (Also, please make sure the form you received has your student's name on it and you don't accidentally have someone else's!  Thank you!)

Reminder that Sunday, December 2 is InsideOut Day!

Our class has been given the opportunity to attend the Sleeping Beauty Show at the Royal Opera House on Thursday, December 6.  Please return permission slips by Tuesday, December 4!  Also note that we are not opening up the opportunity for parent volunteers for the show.  We only have an allotted number of seats in the theater, and although we'd like to take you all(!), we just can't.

If you're looking for the 2AN Schedule, it's now posted on the Blog!  Be sure to also check the actual blog website from time to time (taism4an.blogspot.com) as the Upcoming Dates Section at the top of the blog might come in handy to fill calendars out with dates a bit ahead of time!

Birthday treats!  Let me know if you'd like to bring in birthday treats for the class!  We have 17 students in the class that are always welcoming of treats.  :)  We will typically have birthday treats at 10:15am with our snack time.  So, if you can drop them off in the morning before snack, we will enjoy them with snack.  If not, let me know so I can plan for another arrangement.  (Note:  We do not have a peanut/treenut allergy in our classroom, but we do have a few students that are to avoid nuts and beans.)
