Classroom Happenings:
This past week in Reader's Workshop, student's continued their work with non-fiction reading, talking about how we need to read non-fiction with the idea that we are "adding to what we already know" about a topic.  We also looked at how books about the same topic can have slightly different examples or details.  For example, in one book about tigers we learned that tigers eat buffalo and wild pigs.  In another book about tigers, we learned that tigers also eat monkeys and have even eaten a few people!

The Publishing Party to celebrate our nonfiction writing work in which we taught our audience about a topic will be on Tuesday, December 18 from 2:00-2:40.  Please come celebrate the work your child has done if you are able to attend.

Our Module 3 Math Assessment will be on Wednesday, December 19.  This will finish up our study of Place Value: Counting and Comparing Numbers to 1,000.

Reminders:
If you're looking for the 2AN Schedule, it's now posted on the Blog!  Be sure to also check the actual blog website from time to time (taism4an.blogspot.com) as the Upcoming Dates Section at the top of the blog might come in handy to fill calendars out with dates a bit ahead of time!

Birthday treats!  Let me know if you'd like to bring in birthday treats for the class!  We have 17 students in the class that are always welcoming of treats.  :)  We will typically have birthday treats at 10:15am with our snack time.  So, if you can drop them off in the morning before snack, we will enjoy them with snack.  If not, let me know so I can plan for another arrangement.  (Note:  We do not have a peanut/treenut allergy in our classroom, but we do have a few students that are to avoid nuts and beans.)
