Week of October 28

Sunday Schedule:  Week 2, Day 1

This week's homework:  15 minutes of reading each night, 1 SpellingCity activity each night

IXL Math for possible extra practice:  S.8-S.15 (old practice: any A, E, F)

Classroom Happenings:
Summarize!  This is a big word we're studying with our reading work right now.  We're practicing what it means to give a summary of what we've read, making sure we're only including the important details.  We've been practicing with the Somebody, Wanted, But, So, Then outline.  See if your student can summarize a short story using this outline this weekend!

We're almost published!  Our Narrative Writing has come a long way and our stories are just about finished up!  This next week, we'll be recording our stories on Book Creator so they'll be ready to share at conferences!

Math, Module 2, Topic B and Topic C newsletters went home this week.  If you did not see yours come home, please let me know!  (Math Assessments from Module 1 have been posted to SeeSaw if your student submitted their post for approval.  If not, then they will work on getting it uploaded.  I will also be showing and discussing them at conferences!)

Next week, individual Spelling Lists will come home along with instructions for how to access SpellingCity on a computer, iPad, or phone.  You choose what works best for you!  Students will be asked to practice one SpellingCity activity each night next week for practice with their individualized spelling lists!

Reminders:
If you're looking for the 2AN Schedule, it's now posted on the Blog!  Be sure to also check the actual blog website from time to time (taism4an.blogspot.com) as the Upcoming Dates Section at the top of the blog might come in handy to fill calendars out with dates a bit ahead of time!

Birthday treats!  Let me know if you'd like to bring in birthday treats for the class!  We have 17 students in the class that are always welcoming of treats.  :)  We will typically have birthday treats at 10:15am with our snack time.  So, if you can drop them off in the morning before snack, we will enjoy them with snack.  If not, let me know so I can plan for another arrangement.  (Note:  We do not have a peanut/treenut allergy in our classroom, but we do have a few students that are to avoid nuts and beans.)
