Week of October 21

Sunday Schedule:  Week 1, Day 2

This week's homework:  15 minutes of reading each night

IXL Math for possible extra practice:  any E, any F

Classroom Happenings:
In Reader's Workshop this week, we studied author's purpose, thinking, "What does the author want to teach me?" while reading.  Students worked hard on looking for the hidden messages in stories as author's don't always come out and tell us, directly, what the lesson of the story is.

In Writer's Workshop, we're working towards publishing our Narrative Writing Pieces as we start studying how to revise and edit our work to make it stronger!  Ask your student about their specific writing goals at home!

Math, Module 2, Topic A newsletter went home this week.  If you did not see yours come home, please let me know!  (Math Assessments from Module 1 will be uploaded to SeeSaw on Monday after I have a chance to review them!)

Spelling lists will be practiced in class next week and will be sent home the following week (Week of October 28) to start spelling as part of our typical homework routine.

Reminders:
Swimming in PE starts on Sunday. (See the Mr. T's Swim Unit hand-out in your student's backpack.)

If you're looking for the 2AN Schedule, it's now posted on the Blog!  Be sure to also check the actual blog website from time to time (taism4an.blogspot.com) as the Upcoming Dates Section at the top of the blog might come in handy to fill calendars out with dates a bit ahead of time!

Birthday treats!  Let me know if you'd like to bring in birthday treats for the class!  We have 17 students in the class that are always welcoming of treats.  :)  We will typically have birthday treats at 10:15am with our snack time.  So, if you can drop them off in the morning before snack, we will enjoy them with snack.  If not, let me know so I can plan for another arrangement.  (Note:  We do not have a peanut/treenut allergy in our classroom, but we do have a few students that are to avoid nuts and beans.)
